We are Marketecture
From launching their b2b marketing agency, Marketecture, from a back bedroom in 2003 the co-founders, Michael and Max Clark have built a multi-awarding winning business that now boasts an illustrious roll call of clients including The Financial Times, DHL, Reed Elsevier, Mitel and Dock10.
Since re-locating the business to MediaCityUK’s Blue Tower last September Marketecture has experienced its most successful trading year to date in its first year at the creative and digital destination.
Why did you choose to base your business here at MediaCityUK?
The lease on our previous premises in Trafford Park was up for renewal and after viewing a number of locations across Manchester, it was a no-brainer to base ourselves here from the first site visit. Our MCUK base has completely transformed our recruitment strategy, as we find it easier to attract great talented people who would normally only look to work in the city centre. Similarly, our clients love visiting our offices too – they love the buzz of the area, the view from our fantastic 18th floor offices and the energetic office space we have created. Put simply, MediaCityUK is an inspiring location to be based, which mirrors our philosophy of inspiring our clients’ b2b marketing.
Is there a good support network here?
Yes, there is a strong SME community spirit here making you feel that we are all part of something special emerging and that in itself is inspirational. Equally, the practical support network in terms of amenities, security and the IT infrastructure supplied by dock10 is excellent. Each week we come across new contacts and enjoy the networking events free to the MCUK ‘family’.
What’s the best piece of advice you would give to anyone starting out on their own?
If you’re a client-facing business think carefully where you locate as that first impression and general perception can be so important. In terms of location, spend as much as you can afford to create the right impression. I’m convinced if we’d moved the business from the back bedroom to a back street years ago we wouldn’t be where we are today. The same is true when we moved from our old premises to MediaCityUK last year. It’s the best decision we made in terms of positioning our own brand.
What’s been a highlight for you at MediaCityUK?
It has to be the look on our clients’ faces when they visit the office and see how far we’ve come and the fantastic view we have of Manchester. Joining private members club, onthe7th, was also a great decision – the team are fantastic, meeting facilities impressive and our clients are always welcomed and well looked after.
Where do you see the business in five years?
With a combination of organic growth among our existing clients and a major new business push in 2015, the ultimate aim is to double our turnover in five years. Prior to relocating to MediaCityUK we experienced steady year-on-year growth however, after our first year here growth has accelerated. We’re feeling really positive about the future and we’re here to stay.
